Ministry Opportunities

Mobile Food Pantry Food Drops
Fund and provide an indoor distribution location for people in our area to pick up food.
Since 1981, Food Finders Food Bank has been a critical component of the welfare of Tippecanoe and 15 surrounding counties in Indiana: providing food to member agencies, advocating for the hungry, and
educating the public about hunger-related issues. Funded by United Way, foundations, grants, the USDA, corporations, sponsors, and individual donors, Food Finders Food Bank annually distributes more than 6 million pounds of food to a network of non-profit organizations that work to alleviate hunger throughout Mid-North Indiana.

School Supplies Collections
Collect school supplies to be provided to the Otterbein Elementary School at the time of registration.

United Methodist Mountain Mission
- Collect household and personal items to be donated.
- The United Methodist Mountain Mission has been serving the people of eastern Kentucky since 1943.  We have 9 opportunity stores in Kentucky that are located in Barbourville, Irvine, Harlan, Hazard, Jackson, Pineville, West Liberty, Burkesville and Williamsburg.  We have trucks that travel to churches in Ohio, Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania and throughout Kentucky to pick up donated items.  With the help of our supporters we are able to provide gently used clothing and household items at a reasonable price.

Thanksgiving Baskets
Food collected by the local Girl Scouts is sorted and supplemented with perishable items (turkey breast, milk, bread, potatoes, and eggs) purchased by the Missions team and handed out to families in the community that are in need during the holiday season.

Operation Christmas Child (Shoebox)
- Provide supplies and a pickup/drop off location for people to participate in this global program.

- The 3-6th Grade Youth also participates by holding a packing party to pack boxes with the donated items to be sent.

- Since 1993, more than 100 million boys and girls in over 130 countries have experienced God’s love
through the power of simple shoebox gifts from Operation Christmas Child.  Samaritan’s Purse works with local churches and ministry partners to deliver the gifts and share the life-changing Good News of Jesus Christ.

Angel Tree Program
- Register with the program to receive adopted families with children that have an
incarcerated parent that has asked that their child receive gifts from them.
- Shop for the children based on the list of items suggested.
- Travel as a group to the homes to deliver the gifts and minister to the children and families.
- Angel Tree, a program of Prison Fellowship, reaches out to the children of inmates and their families with the love of Christ. This unique program gives your church an opportunity to share Christ’s love by helping to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the families of prisoners.

Christmas Baskets
Food collected by Otterbein Elementary School food drive is sorted and supplemented with perishable items (ham, milk, bread, potatoes, and eggs) purchased by the Missions team and handed out to families in the community that are in need during the holiday season.  Students are also able to come to the church and help sort the food.  Paper products, soaps, detergents and personal hygiene items are also donated by local organizations.
