Our mission

Jesus came near and spoke to them, “I’ve received all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything that I’ve commanded you. Look, I myself will be with you every day until the end of this present age.” (Matthew 28:18-20, CEB) —

Otterbein United Methodist Church’s Mission Statement: To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World!

This passage of scripture is often referred to as “the Great Commandment.” In it, Jesus shares with his followers that they are to carry on the ministry that he began by going into world and sharing the Good News that no matter where they have been, God wants to be in relationship with them! We recognize that this commandment is not limited to those 12 disciples, but to all who claim Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Therefor, we here at OUMC strive to Love God and to Love our Neighbor, both locally and globally.

Locally in growing disciples, we worship weekly and have Sunday School Opportunities for all ages to learn more about God in their lives. We offer assistance for rent and utilities, support the local elementary school, host community family programs like the Fall Family Carnival, help kids go to a quality summer camp, and so much more!

Globally, we reach out and have been sending a mission group to Honduras for 12 years where we have helped to build houses, playgrounds, and so much more!

Because we were first loved, we want to share that love with others. Only by introducing those in and around us to Christ can the world truly be transformed for the better! We hope that you will join us in this mission!
